Hyperlinks should be plain when possible; if they’re used to fire javascript, they should also have a noscript alternative. This will ensure search crawlers can easily discover and access all content within the website.


If you do not want search robots to attempt to crawl a hyperlink, you can add the rel=“nofollow” attribute. This will also tell the search engine to disregard the link from a URL discovery and link equity perspective.
